Roger Mudd (b. February 9, 1928) is a veteran U.S. journalist and television anchor. He was substitute anchor for Walter Cronkite on the CBS Evening News in the 1960s and went on to co-anchor the NBC Nightly News. He was also lead political correspondent on the MacNeil-Lehrer Newshour on PBS and a leading moderator for The History Channel up until his retirement in 2004. Mudd is most remembered for asking Senator Edward M. Kennedy why he wanted to be president in a television interview in 1979. Kennedy's fumbling answer is thought to be one of the reasons for his loss to Jimmy Carter in the 1980 Democratic presidential primary. Mudd has lived with his family in this rambling Cape Cod style house in McLean, Virginia throughout his years in broadcasting,
