Robert F. Kennedy (b. November 20, 1925; d. June 6, 1968) was the brother of President John F. Kennedy and a U.S. Senator from New York. He served as U.S. Attorney General from 1961 to 1964. Kennedy was known for his liberalism, civil rights activism and strong stand against organized crime. After his brother's assassination in 1963, Kennedy became a U.S. Senator and began his own bid for the presidency. But while campaigning for the Democratic Party nomination in 1968, Kennedy himself was assassinated by Palestinian extremist Sirhan Sirhan. During his years in Washington, Kennedy, his wife Ethel and their eleven children lived at this 1870 historical brick home in McLean, Virginia known as "Hickory Hill", located at 1147 Chain Bridge Road. His widow Ethel continued to live there until 2010, when the house was sold.
