Richard Fairbank (b. 1950) is co-founder and chief executive officer of Capital One Financial Corporation, based in McLean, Virginia. He also serves on the board of directors of MasterCard International. In the early 1990s, Capital One revolutionized the credit card industry with such innovations as zero-balance transfers. The company has now moved into retail banking, and ranks 130th on the Fortune 500. Fairbank is among just a handful of the nation's top CEOs who forgo a regular annual salary -- but still reportedly earns more than $6 million dollars annually in stock options and other compensation. Fairbank doesn't have a big commute to the office, as he owns a massive home, complete with swimming pool, right in McLean.
