The Real World is a reality television series on MTV. The first episode aired way back in 1992, making it the longest running show in MTV history. It has hit on major issues, such as relationships, sexuality, AIDS and politics, and has become a cultural phenomenon. Over 27 seasons, the show pimped out houses in cities like New York, Seattle, Paris, Las Vegas and Austin. In 2009, for its 23rd season, the show came to Washington, DC. The Real World Washington D.C. took place in this $5.7 million mansion, located at 2000 S Street NW, in Dupont Circle. Before MTV took over, the place had been home to a video store, Ethiopian restaurant, bar, and church. It underwent heavy-duty renovation just before the 21 to 23 year old cast moved in for the show.
